Profiles of Success

SUSAN MARGILOFF
Attorney/Legal, Human Resources, Property Management

About

I was introduced to PPLSI at a networking event in August 2010 after having been laid off from a corporate human resources position. Prior to my HR career, I engaged in the practice of law as a general practitioner handling criminal, DUI, family law and estate planning. During my careers in both law and human resources, I learned that the high cost of legal representation hindered individual and employee access, and that those who needed legal services preferred to retain a quality lawyer from a personal referral versus from the yellow pages.

When I first saw the comprehensive coverage provided by the legal plan, I knew that the membership just made sense — from its price point to its coverage, from the lawyer accessibility to the hand-selected provider law firm system.

Although I had no sales background, I felt a need to share LegalShield and IDShield with corporate America for the benefit of their employees.

For me, involvement as a PPLSI Associate has been a continuous journey throughout which there have been struggles and periods of frustration as well as successes both small and large. The initial challenges included learning how to prospect and approach strangers, cold calling, learning to stay quiet and let the tools do the talking, and using experts for three way calls. Later challenges included maintaining high retention. Successes included reaching continuously higher pay levels, earning Performance Club trips and bonuses, gaining new employee benefit accounts and becoming a top group and CDLP producer through knowledge and experience. Each success has propelled me to the next challenge. I enjoy setting goals for myself and striving to achieve them, but I am also motivated like many North Americans — for financial reasons.

While I primarily focus on the Business Solutions side of the business, I also engage in all aspects of the PPLSI “Wheel of Opportunity.” I enjoy and have been successful marketing our CDLP plan, and have learned a great deal about handling high driver turnover. It is important to work consistently, ethically and professionally, with the highest of standards — not only with my customers, but with my team and colleagues inside and outside of my organization. Staying focused on the right activities, treating others with respect and professionalism, and always keeping in mind the importance of quality sales, service and retention, help me achieve continued success and maximize my income with PPLSI.

While corporate America can provide a good salary and benefits, working for yourself, when taken seriously, provides scheduling options and financial opportunity that far exceed the typical “regular” job. Today, just as on the day I was introduced to PPLSI, I believe that the membership is something that every North American needs to know about!
